The Sports Book

Your child wakes up, excited about the big championship game.  But, her calf muscle aches.  During breakfast, she imagines the crowd cheering for her stellar performance.

The game begins, and the teams are evenly matched.  With only a few minutes left, victory or defeat depends on your child.  But suddenly, the ache in her muscle becomes a terrible cramp, and she can't go on.  Unfortunately, the other team wins the championship.

Your child is so disappointed and worried about how the coach and her teammates will react.  To her surprise, the coach was very encouraging and more worried about your child's leg than the loss of the game!  The team was soon laughing together.

When they arrive at their favorite pizza place, her teammates all rally around your child to remind her that she gets better each time they compete.  Then your child spots Kia, the know-it-all whose outspoken meanness was well known in your town.  With no place to hide, your child becomes the target of Kia's sharp tongue.

As she sits there speechless, the coach comes to her defense.  He reminds Kia that her poor sportmanship lost the championship game last year and that Mary was the one who stuck up for Kia.

A few weeks later, the awards banquet is held.  Who would win the most-coveted Sportsmanship Trophy?
