The Magic Dreidel

As your child waits for the guests to arrive to start the Hanukkah holiday, he spins his dreidel.  Suddenly, the dreidel begins talking!  It's not just any dreidel--it's Mac, the magic dreidel.  Mac is there to teach your child the meaning of Hanukkah and why we celebrate the holiday.

Mac tells of King Antiochus and all the wicked things he did to get the Jewish people to worship many gods.  When the king's men tried to force Mattathias to worship a statue of a Greek god, he, his sons and their followers ran into the hills and formed an army known as the Maccabees.  The Maccabees defeated the evil king and drove him out of Judea.

When the Jews began repairing their temple, they only had enough oil to keep the sacred light burning for one day.  But the miracle of Hanukkah kept the light burning for not one, but eight days.  And that is why the Jewish people celebrate the miracle of Hanukkah.
